NetworkWorld.com's new look

Welcome to the new NetworkWorld.com. We've been hard at work transforming Network World Fusion to make it more useful. This page highlights those changes and the thinking behind them.

What do you think?

Let us know! Take our quick redesign survey or drop us a line at mshaw@nww.com

The redesign in a nutshell - See all of the changes in a handy graphical format:

Why the name change?

After nine years online, we realize that the name you trust in enterprise networking is Network World. The name change reflects that simple fact. However, don't worry about any URLs you've bookmarked - we're redirecting nwfusion.com to networkworld.com, so no links should break.

What else is different?

NetworkWorld.com produces and hosts a huge (and constantly growing) database of enterprise information, from tests and buyer's guides to daily news and forums, to in-depth articles from the weekly print edition of Network World. We've tried to come up with ways to make it as easy as possible for you to find just the information you need to run your network more effectively.

For example, we've moved links related to articles from the very bottom to the top right corner of the articles, making them easier to find.

We've re-organized our technology-specific Research Centers to align them better with enterprise networking today. All of them now have additional sub-topics that let you drill down even further (via new, easier to find tabs at the tops of Research Center pages). Each Research Center also has its own topic-specific search boxes (searching on "IBM" from the Applications page will bring up different results than on the Servers / Desktop page).

All our Research Centers now also have a topic-specific Vendor Solutions link, bringing you to the relevant white papers and other resources from our advertising partners.

On the right side of almost every page on the site, you'll find a topic-specific Editor's Choice box, featuring links to the latest stories, in-depth reports and more that you should read.

I can't find something. Where'd it go?

Probably the biggest changes come in our Research Centers, some of which have been merged or been given new names. Here's a "map" to these changes:

Where possible, we've retained the same URLs for research centers. Where we had to come up with new URLs, we're providing re-directs, so hopefully you won't get lost. All articles keep the same URLs.

What happened to the Network World corporate site?

It is now at www.networkworld.com/aboutus/

I found something broken. Where can I report it?

If you do find something that just doesn't work, please let us know at nwfmail@nww.com (this goes to several editors, so one of us can fix it quickly).

But beyond telling us about simple broken links and the like, please let us know what you think of the new design! Take our redesign survey (it'll take five minutes at most) or if you want to get more specific and detailed, please drop a line to Melissa Shaw, our managing editor, at mshaw@nww.com or me. Thanks!
