Verizon has introduced a new managed unified communications and collaboration solution featuring Microsoft Lync. The offer is designed to help businesses more easily adopt advanced communications and collaboration by leaving the service and infrastructure management to Verizon. The managed Lync service can be combined with Verizon SIP trunking that includes managed session border controllers to create an end-to-end UC&C infrastructure.

The offer is designed to help businesses more easily adopt advanced communications and collaboration by leaving the service and infrastructure management to Verizon. The managed Lync service can be combined with Verizon SIP Trunking that includes managed session border controllers to create an end-to-end UC&C infrastructure.
Verizon's new offering is immediately available in the U.S. and 19 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K. Managed UC&C for Microsoft Lync can facilitate adoption enterprise mobility, enhanced IM/presence, single-number reach, and audio and video conferencing support.

Verizon was one of the first global service providers to offer professional services specifically designed to help organizations employ Microsoft Lync. The consulting services include workshop and strategic planning services, assessment services, architecture and design services, deployment and integration services, and unified communications applications enablement planning services.
In a related announcement, Acme Packet disclosed that its session border controllers, which help set up and complete VoIP communications, have achieved certification with Verizon SIP Trunking and Microsoft Lync Server 2010. According to Acme Packet, its Net-Net Enterprise Session Director (ESD) enterprise session border controllers (E-SBC) are the first certified to work with Verizon's IP Trunking Services and Microsoft Lync Server 2010.
