Alcatel-Lucent upgrades its OpenTouch Suite for SMB

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise recently updated its OpenTouch Suite targeting the small medium business (SMB) market. The latest feature set is designed to give SMB employees new capabilities for using their own personal mobile devices (BYOD) and social networking communications.

The company's OpenTouch Suite for SMB includes the OmniPCX Office Rich Communication Edition (RCE) Release 9.0 and other solutions. Among the new additions:

My IC Social Networks -- Giving employees access to internal and external contacts via channels like Skype, Facebook, Yahoo and MSN. The contact menu synchs with employees' Outlook directories and presence.

Mobility -- A new IP DECT Access Point enables services like Universal Directory Access, while supporting a mobile environment. When away from the company location employees can use the "My IC Mobile" via iPhone and Android applications to stay connected.

Video and Visual Collaboration -- Two new video solutions are available: either video telephony via the My IC Phone video endpoint, or videoconferencing with LifeSize Unity 50.

My IC Web for Office -- Provides browser-based unified communication services so employees can access, monitor and manage their calls, change settings or issue a call from their favorite browser.

Additionally, the OmniPCX Office R9.0SIP has improved capacity to now support up to 120 SIP phones.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise also announced it was recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan as the recipient of the 2012 Global Market Share Leadership Award for the SMB enterprise communications platforms market. According to the company's statement, Frost & Sullivan based the award on Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise's end-to-end communications solutions portfolio for delivering continuous innovation centered on the end user, its successful and growing partner ecosystem, and other factors.
