BroadSoft has just released survey results that substantiate users' increasing demand for mobile unified communications. The results also highlight an opportunity for mobile network operators to more quickly monetize their LTE network investments by delivering mobile UC to workers. The survey was conducted in late 2012 with responses from more than 700 business people from the United States, Spain and Sweden.
According to the survey results, workers are frustrated with traditional approaches that rely on non-real-time options, especially for email and voicemail.
When asked to rank their top three frustrations about current communications options, employees waiting on information topped the list (78%). Other concerns: 69% were frustrated with locating and contacting someone while 59% found email ineffective.

Workers showed a strong willingness to adopt unified communications: 76% of respondents said they would be "very keen" or "somewhat keen" to adopt UC solutions. Mobile integration, instant messaging and presence, and Web collaboration were listed as the top three most desirable UC services.
Mobility was also top of mind, with 69% asking for integrated mobile UC services. The top four most beneficial UC features were:
- Extension of desk phone features to mobile devices
- One familiar application to access UC services across all communication devices
- Make and receive business calls on personal mobile devices using business identity
- Integrated, searchable personal contacts and business directory across devices
Commenting in a statement on the results, Leslie Ferry, vice president of marketing at BroadSoft, said, "The survey reflects the fact that workers are frustrated with everyday communications services, such as voicemail and email, and that they have a growing interest in mobile unified communications capabilities." She continued, "because of the higher average revenue-per-user generated by UC services, we believe mobile operators are positioned to more rapidly monetize their investments in LTE networks, and to deliver the superior Quality of Service enterprise users require in order to efficiently communicate, from anywhere on their desired device."
