Walmart said today that the Verizon Wireless edition of Apple's iPhone 4 smartphone will be available in about 600 select stores starting Thursday, Feb.10.
"We're excited to bring iPhone 4 on Verizon Wireless, one the most anticipated mobile phone launches in recent history, to Walmart customers," said Gary Severson, senior vice president, Home Entertainment, Walmart U.S. "As customers continue to embrace smart phone technology, we've added nearly 20 smart phone models to our assortment, including the new iPhone 4 on Verizon Wireless."

The iPhone 4 starts at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB edition, both requiring a two-year Verizon contract.
Walmart has been selling iPhones that work on AT&T's network since late 2008.
Verizon and Apple opened up general sales of the iPhone for Verizon's network today and Verizon has said it will begin selling the iPhone at its stores on Thursday as will Apple at its stores. Best Buy is also selling the Verizon iPhone 4 starting this week.
The Verizon iPhone has been much anticipated by Verizon customers as well as AT&T customers with complaints about dropped calls on that carrier. Apple iPhone fanatics surveyed recently indicated they would be willing to brave snow and cold to stand in line this week for Verizon iPhones.
Verizon has poked fun at its rival in new ads in which the Verizon Guy utters: "Yes, I can hear you now."
