Qualcomm goes 'round the world in viral video ploy

Attempts to recreate success of Bug Circus video in promoting snapdragon processors for smartphones and tablets

Qualcomm is going back to the viral video well, promoting its energy efficient Snapdragon processors for smartphones and tablets in a video that shows a device going 36,000 miles around the world on one charge and being used to film a series of quirky optical illusions on the way.

The phone makes stops in Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Shanghai, Moscow, Dubai, Mumbai, Rio De Janeiro and Istanbul, over 20 days.

The video is backed by music from OK Go, known for its own viral videos.

Qualcomm also encouraging people to visit its Facebook page to enter a contest to show off what you can do on one charge. Winners get Snapdragon-powered devices.

Qualcomm has racked up more than 1.1 million YouTube views since last fall when it sprang a colorful bug circus upon us to show off how little power it takes to keep the company's Snapdragon smartphone and tablet processors zipping along.
