Well it seems that someone over at Apple isn't too happy with Instagram, but interestingly enough, it has nothing to do with the recent $1 billion Facebook acquisition.
Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior VP of worldwide marketing, is the only high ranking Apple executive that actively uses Twitter. And from time to time, he'll even interact with fans. What's more, Schiller was also an Instagram user.
Or at least he was up until recently.
Schiller not too long ago deleted his Instagram account, prompting one user to ask Apple's marketing chief what was going on. It was a curious move, after all, considering that Instagram had won iPhone app of the year in 2011 and that Schiller had previously mentioned that he enjoyed using the app.
Schiller responded via Twitter that Instagram "jumped the shark when it went to Android."

I suppose that as Apple's marketing head, Schiller was particularly enamored that Instagram was, for the longest time, an iOS-only application and indicative of the fact that the iOS ecosystem, in his view, offered users a higher quality selection of apps than Android. I mean, it always helps when the hottest mobile photo sharing app is an Apple exclusive.
But now that Instagram is an equal opportunity mobile employer and quite successful on Android since launching two weeks ago, it's apparently lost a little bit of that luster.
In terms of iOS marketing – something that Schiller runs at the highest level – Instagram could have been seen as a pull for smartphone buyers to the iOS platform. The fun, convenient, and growing network has been featured several times in Apple’s App Store, even winning “app of the year” recognition. As marketing chief at Apple, seeing one of the platform’s most popular third-party pieces of software running on millions of Android phones is a disappointing sight.
So the question remains - which app will Schiller replace Instagram with on his iPhone? Or better yet, which one will he delete next?!
