ASUS apologizes over sexist butt tweet

Taiwanese company takes social media beating in wake of sexist Tweet

ASUS has issued an apology, via Twitter, regarding a sexist tweet issued from its official @ASUS account earlier today that has sparked a torrent of negative comments across social media sites.

The company's original "rear" comment, regarding a woman displaying the company's new Transformer All-in-One PC at the big Computex show, was yanked earlier in the day, but not before many copies of it began circulating the web.

A sampling of reaction:

@DrCheese: Stay classy, ASUS

@thewildgoose Why women have a rough time in tech, exhibit A

@LordSploge Don’t think Apple would pull this cheap marketing stunt

@julpepitone Cue cliche apology statement.
