Apple to announce iPhone 5S on June 20 with launch date in July - Rumor

The latest from the rumor mill has Apple announcing its next-gen iPhone on June 20, just one week after WWDC.

Take this one with a grain of salt, but the French-language website has obtained a document from Japanese carrier KDDI purporting to indicate pricing and launch information for the as-of-yet unannounced iPhone 5S.

The document in question is allegedly an information sheet intended for sales staff and suggests that the iPhone 5S will be announced on June 20 with sales set to begin in July. The sheet also notes that the iPhone 5S will feature a fingerprint authorization sensor, a 13-megapixel camera, and of course, iOS 7.

While the rumor is admittedly somewhat sketchy, the timeline does seem to make sense given that Apple's WWDC is slated to kick off on June 10. Of course, history suggests that it may be too soon for even Apple to be fully sure of when its next-gen iPhone will be ready to launch. Recent rumors have indicated that Apple is still struggling to find the right type of coating for its home button so it won't interfere with the iPhone's fingerprint sensor.
