Sony 20.2 megapixel camera lens is smartphone-attachable and very cool

If you're looking to get a whole lot more out of your smartphone's camera, Sony may have just what you need

Well this is certainly cool, especially if you're looking to get a whole lot more out of your smartphone's camera. What you're looking at above is a leaked shot of an upcoming Sony camera lens that wraps around your smartphone and sports a 20.2-megapixel sensor along with Wi-Fi capabilities.

SonyAlphaRumors reports:

What you see on these images are the DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 lenses. Actually these are not normal lenses! They have built-in sensor, Bionz processor, Wifi/NFC wireless connection and SD card slot. These lenses have no LCD screen and no usual camera controls. You will be able to control them through your smartphone or tablet (via WiFi or NFC). The lenses can be magnetically attached on your smartphone and it works on both Android and iOS devices. That is nothing like we have seen before. For the first time you can shoot top-quality images with your smartphone.

Incredibly intriguing. As the saying goes, the best camera is the one you have on you, but unfortunately the one most people have on them are smartphone cameras which, while getting better each passing year, aren't often comprable to dedicated point and shooters. The above lens, however, changes the game.

No word yet on when exactly this puppy will be available, but rumors suggest it'll be soon. All in all, it's a sleek little product that may be that little extra something to turn your iPhone or Android device into a much better camera.
