Pexip announced the general availability of Pexip Infinity, a software platform designed to provide personal meeting rooms for any number of users on video, voice and mobile. The platform also includes a complementary Pexip mobile application for iOS conference participants, enabling a consistent interface for users to can control conferences and view presentations from their own personal mobile device.
Commenting in a statement on the product launch, Andrew W. Davis, founder and senior partner, Wainhouse Research said, “Pexip’s solution fits well within the mainstream enterprise future – a virtualized solution that works in a truly distributed architecture, melds with common IT strategies and tools, and provides customers with unprecedented levels of interoperability and flexibility.”
According to the company’s statement, the future software architecture plans call for new features technologies such as H.265, SVC and WebRTC support that will be made available through on-going software upgrades.
The Pexip mobile application for iOS included in this release allows users to view both presentation and current participants on the call in addition to zoom and other features available on a mobile device.
Pexip Infinity software can be deployed remotely on two or more virtual machines. It is built to be “hardware agnostic,” using industry standard servers. Additional features and benefits include: a management API, redundancy and resilience capabilities, and a distributed architecture designed to reduce WAN bandwidth consumption. The software licensing model allows organizations to increase or decrease conferencing capacity as needed to meet changing needs.
