Apple Awarded $290M in Samsung patent infringement case

With today's award Samsung now owes Apple a total of $890M

Today, in what can only be described a weak ending to a rather tedious saga, the jury in the Apple vs. Samsung patent infringement case in which Samsung was found guilty in August 2012, awarded Apple damages of $290 million. Apple had argued that the damages should be $379.8 million while Samsung contended $52 million was fair.

Even though $290 million is hardly "small beer" to you and I it amounts to little more than a rounding error in either company's coffee fund. Then again, when added to the previous award of $600 million it's getting serious and leaves Samsung with a total of $890 million to pay. Ouch.
