On occasion, we get to chat with business owners who have deployed a VoIP system or UC solution, but this week we had a chance to talk with someone who is working with his fourth VoIP provider in ten years. Fortunately, the fourth time was a charm for Jay Barnett at Decision Toolbox who selected Masergy for his cloud-based communications services. Decision Toolbox is a 100 person recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) provider and recruitment services company.
Decision Toolbox has been using VoIP for over over a decade, and though it started in a small office, all employees now work from home. When we asked Barnett what else aside from a virtual office had changed in his business model, he said that “the days of the traditional headhunter are numbered; recruiting has become much more technology driven. The challenge is not finding people, but standing out from the crowd.”
The company uses customized technology to, for example, manage CRM or accounting and according to Barnett, “we’re spoiled … we just build it.” One of the reasons he continues to be happy with his Masergy choice is because his engineers have made extensive use of Masergy’s APIs to integrate with his own custom applications and business processes. Barnett said that the “APIs are so well laid out that our engineers can just grab them and run.”
Most of his team members use a softphone on their computer or on a mobile device, although some prefer to use the legacy Cisco VoIP phone that has been on their home office desk for years. After years of disappointment with other providers’ voice quality, Barnett is pleased with the Masergy voice and quality of service. He also notes that “what’s also been cool is figuring out how to integrate our UC services with our systems and processes.”
