Server reboot puts scare into parents

I might have been one of those parents, as these erroneous absentee calls were delivered in the town where I live. However, I first learned of the problem via an email announcing that it was only a false alarm.

From a Hopkinton, Mass., school website:

An iAutoAlert went out to all Elmwood parents and their emergency contacts today in error. Please be assured that all your children are safe.

Our initial information is indicating that a server rebooted and sent out erroneous attendance data at a later time.

We will continue to update you as more information comes available.

It's unclear whether this affected a single school or all of them.

But being told your children aren't at school after you dropped them off at the bus stop will panic most any parent.
