TheStreet.com has a story out today that IBM may OEM Juniper gear to stock its arsenal in the battle with Cisco for control of data centers. The site cites a note issued this week by Avian Securities.
The article doesn't say which equipment IBM may OEM. It already resells Juniper's EX LAN switches. It also OEMs switches from Brocade. Juniper uses IBM chips in its routers, and the two companies are allied in cloud computing -- Juniper confirmed IBM's participation in its "Stratus" cloud project.
But it's another indication that IBM and HP take Cisco's incursions into their bread and butter blade server business very seriously. Speculation has it that HP might also extend its OEM relationship with Brocade to include Brocade's FCoE switches, as well as its Foundry switches.
