Cisco tapped an internal veteran to head a new group overseeing product development for digital media content companies.
Cisco named Dan Scheinman as senior vice president and general manager of the Media Solutions Group, which will be responsible for developing and marketing infrastructure products to digital media content owners. Scheinman has been at Cisco for 14 years and most recently served as senior vice president of corporate development, steering Cisco through more than 40 acquisitions that included foundational purchases such as Linksys and Scientific-Atlanta.
Scheinman will continue to report to Cisco CEO John Chambers.
Cisco also named Ned Hooper, a nine-year company veteran, to replace Scheinman as head of the corporate business development organization. Hooper has been vice president of corporate business development for the last two years, helping direct Cisco's investments in early-stage companies in emerging technology and global markets.
Hooper will report to Rick Justice, senior vice president of worldwide operations and business development.
