Vidyo has announced VidyoDesktop™ Virtual Edition (VE), a videoconferencing desktop client designed for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments. The new offer extends the Vidyo solution to Citrix® virtual desktop offerings including Citrix XenDesktop® and XenApp®.
The solution features:
- Seamless interworking with existing Vidyo offerings or legacy endpoints, including the full visual collaboration portfolio.
- Ability to separate video and VDI traffic allows for optimum network and bandwidth management.
- Click-to-connect calendar integration and interoperability with voice and video standards designed for ease of use in virtual environments.
The platform also enables integration of video into a variety of applications and workflows such as electronic medical records (EMRs), patient monitoring, financial trading, online banking and other vertical applications — targeting many of the markets that use VDI environments such as financial services, government, healthcare and education.
Commenting in a statement, Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo CEO and co-founder said,“Organizations that have chosen to deploy VDI for security and control purposes now have the ability to fully leverage the high-quality experience that Vidyo delivers within that environment thanks to the flexibility and scalability of the VidyoWorks™ platform.“
Derek Thorslund, Director of Product Management, Citrix added, “Vidyo is known in the market for providing consistent HD quality video on any device and any network, making VidyoDesktop VE a perfect fit for Citrix mobile workspace users. Their optimized architecture for XenDesktop and XenApp is a great addition to the Vidyo product portfolio, supporting the large scale virtual desktop adoption that Citrix is seeing.”
