Some schools make kids unceremoniously stuff their cellphones into lockers before the start of the day, but an all-girls' day and boarding school in Wellesley, Mass., has taken a slightly softer approach to preventing electronics distraction: Dana Hall School students deposit their devices into a very nicely decorated cell phone station.

According to Kelly Walsh, assistant director of the Middle School, this policy was implemented to encourage students to be present, with each other and their teachers, during the academic day, and not distracted by their phones. It's not a punishment, she adds.

Teachers keep their phones with them as part of the campus safety and emergency communication plan.
