A Pennsylvania high school guidance counselor has chosen one of the worst ways imaginable to demonstrate to her students the dangers of using social media while under the influence of anger.
MaryKate Blankenburg, an employee of Central Bucks High School West in Doylestown, Pa., was unhappy that people were planning to protest the recent legal decisions in Ferguson, Mo., and Staten Island, N.Y., at the Philadelphia Eagles home football game on Sunday.
So she posted on Facebook: “If my child cannot get to the Eagles game due to protesters, I will personally SHOOT every one of them. You’ve been warned idiots!!”

To make matters worse – assuming that’s possible – Blankenburg attempted to sidestep responsibility by throwing her kid under the bus, metaphorically speaking, of course. From a local newspaper report:
Contacted Sunday night, Blankenburg, 37, of Upper Gwynedd, told the newspaper that “my child might have gotten hold of my iPad,” and made the post while she was teaching Sunday school.
Guidance counselor and Sunday school teacher.
Blankenburg has been suspended with pay and law enforcement authorities are investigating whether criminal charges are warranted.
They likely are not, but she will be fortunate to keep her job. I wouldn’t want someone who has demonstrated this level of rage, stupidity and irresponsibility advising my children on major life decisions.
