Polycom Enhances Collaboration Portfolio

Logitech introduces portable video "ConferenceCam"

Polycom has enhanced its collaboration portfolio with several new features including facial recognition, noise suppression technology, and mobile device upgrades that improve picture quality. The features are integrated with the Polycom RealPresence Group Series and Polycom RealPresence® Resource Manager software.

The Polycom EagleEye Producer is camera innovation that advances facial recognition technology. It dynamically finds discussion participants automatically and frames them for clearer view. When coupled with the resource management software, it can report data such as the number of meeting participants and the total time each attended to help administrators with utilization planning.

Polycom’s NoiseBlock technology eliminates extraneous noises such as paper shuffling, crinkling food wrappers and keyboard typing from interrupting conversations.

Polycom RealPresence Mobile, available with a free app, now provides improved 720p video on select mobile devices. Upgrades also enhance user controls to share and work on content with other meeting participants.

In other product news, Logitech has introduced a portable video conferencing solution featuring the new Logitech ConferenceCam Connect. It works with any PC, MAC or Chromebook through a USB connection to virtually a wide variety of videoconferencing platforms including Lync, and Skype™, Cisco Jabber, WebEx, Citrix GoToMeeting, Blue Jeans, Google Hangouts, Lifesize, Vidyo, and Zoom. ConferenceCam Connect runs on AC power or battery.

Windows and Android users can connect wirelessly to the ConferenceCam Connect to screen-mirror presentations, spreadsheets, videos or Internet content from a mobile device to a TV screen through an HDMI connection.

Commenting about  changing video conferencing needs, Bill Haskins, senior analyst and partner at Wainhouse Research said in a statement, “Our research points to a rise in open seating environments, shrinking conference rooms, more telecommuters, and the use of a growing number of collaborative applications. The Logitech ConferenceCam Connect meets these challenges head-on by providing an intriguing combination of flexibility and portability.”

The Logitech ConferenceCam Connect is expected to be available worldwide in March 2015 at a suggested price of $499, €499 and £449.
