Avaya acquires Esna, Mitel buys TigerTMS

BTG announces partner program

Avaya has acquired Esna Technologies in a move intended to facilitate easier user access to cloud-based, multi-vendor communications capabilities. The acquisition will help Avaya will deliver an Esna-enabled Avaya Communicator web client for both the Avaya IP Office and Avaya Aura platforms with out-of-the-box video and voice capabilities that can be embedded into public or private cloud-based business applications. The thin client is designed to improve engagement, productivity and mobility by reducing the disruption caused by shifting in and out of applications or changing devices. Esna’s unified communications and collaboration expertise ranges from integrations tools that include Cisco, Avaya, and Google platforms.

Commenting in a statement on the acquisition, Gary E. Barnett, SVP and GM, Avaya Engagement Solutions said, “It’s time for the convergence of communications and business applications, time for enabling communications from the browsers of public or private cloud-based applications people use every day, and time for the user experience to be one click to engage. With Esna and Avaya, that’s the value proposition - coming soon to a browser near you.”

In other news, Mitel announced that is has acquired global hospitality specialist TigerTMS, a software, cloud, and applications provider. TigerTMS offers solutions such as Hospitality Interface Aggregation, Call Accounting, voicemail and wake up solutions, and IP technologies for smartphones and tablets. Their customer base includes more than 20 of the largest hotel brands in the world, including Hyatt, Marriot and IHG.

UC industry analyst Phil Edholm commented on Mitel’s acquisition saying, “With TigerTMS, Mitel has made a smart technology buy, bringing in-house a specialized suite of solutions to deliver the connected guest experience on a cloud platform that perfectly complements their own industry leading voice offering.”

In other headlines, Breakthrough Technology Group (BTG) has launched a new Private Cloud Partner Program that will allow consultants, systems integrators, solutions providers, resellers and agents to offer cloud solutions and services targeting enterprise and mid-sized clientele. Breakthrough Technology Group is a private cloud and telecommunications solutions provider.

BTG’s platform creates a Virtual Domain or VDOM for each customer so they can deliver services such as Managed Virtual Machines, Managed Applications, Dedicated Messaging Services, and Hosted Virtual Desktops. BTG Private Cloud Partner Program offers three tiers including Adviser, “Billing Only” Reseller, and “White Label” Reseller.
