This week Salesforce says 160,000 attendees are descending upon San Francisco for the company’s annual Dreamforce conference. Apparently there are not enough hotel rooms in the city by the Bay for that many people, so Salesforce rented a cruise ship to be docked on a downtown Pier for Salesforce enthusiasts to stay at.

This is just the type of thing Salesforce, captained by the boisterous Marc Benioff, would do. I attended my first Salesforce event earlier this year and I can assure you Salesforce holds nothing back for its events.
As for the cruise ship, Salesforce partnered with Celebrity Cruise lines to dock the ship at San Francisco’s Pier 29. 1,100 attendees will be staying on the Dreamboat, where they will have access to many of the ship’s amenities, including in-room dining service, a 24x7 fitness facility and various bar and lounge areas. A Salesforce spokesperson said the company arranged the alternative housing option because “hotel space is at a premium in San Francisco” during Dreamforce. Or maybe just as another stunt for it’s over-the-top annual conference.
