Though the upcoming 4-inch iPhone SE will be the star of Apple's media event on Monday, Apple also has some interesting iPad news to deliver. According to reports, Apple in just a few days will take the wraps off of a new 9.7-inch iPad. Notably, the device will be positioned as a smaller iPad Pro rather than an iPad Air 3.
While we'll get to some of the iPad Pro's rumored features, we'll first start with how much Apple plans to charge for its upcoming tablet. According to the reputable Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac, the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro will come in two storage capacities and, in turn, will have two pricepoints. Specifically, a 32GB Wi-Fi only model will be priced at $599 while a 128GB model will be a tad more expensive.
While $599 is $100 more expensive than any base level 9.7-inch iPad we've seen to date, 9to5Mac does astutely point out that the upcoming iPad Pro does come with an extra 16GB of storage out of the box. What's more, other reports suggest that the upcoming iPad Pro may feature an enhanced speaker system, more RAM, a 4K display, and last but not least, support for the Apple Pencil. In other words, it's fair to say that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro lives up to the 'Pro' moniker and, as a result, warrants the higher price point.
Other features that may be featured on the 9.7-inch iPad Pro include a speedy A9x processor and a 12 megapixel camera on the back with LED flash.
