Apple's iPhone 7 may come in three distinct models, according to a recent report from Mobipicker. Based on a photo obtained from an anonymous tipster, Mobipicker relays that Apple later this year may release three iPhone models: an iPhone 7, an iPhone 7 Plus and an iPhone 7 Pro.

While details remain scant, a three-model release cycle would prove intriguing and would certainly be a shrewd way to bump up iPhone sales that, according to some analysts, have plateaued. That being the case, and based on other rumblings from the rumor mill, there exists a possibility that Apple this fall will release a 4.7-in. iPhone 7, an 5.5-in. iPhone 7 Plus and a 5.5-in. iPhone 7 Pro that will exclusively feature an advanced dual camera system.

Of course, the most noteworthy iPhone 7 tidbit, based on initial reports, is that Apple's next-gen iPhone will completely abandon the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and will instead rely upon the device's Lighting Port for audio. While such a move would improve overall sound quality, it would also require users with traditional headphones to use an adapter of some sort. Whether or not consumers will find this to be a frustrating experience remains to be seen.

iPhone 7 reportedly more complex

Meanwhile, in other iPhone 7 news, CNBC earlier this week, citing a report out of Taiwan, relayed that Apple's top two manufacturers—Foxconn and Pegatron—have begun hiring employees for production earlier than usual. The reason? The iPhone 7 is decidedly "more complex than previous models," which is to say that employees tasked with assembling the device will need "more training" than in previous years.

All that said, it stands to reason that Apple with the iPhone 7 has a few tricks up its sleeve.
