Review:
The coolest part about the Motion Computing LS800 Tablet PC is its size -- it's still bigger than a PDA but smaller than any other tablet you've seen. It really is small enough to put into a lab coat (with big pockets, of course).
But this device is no slouch in the specs department. The 2.2-pound LS800 has an 8.4-inch LCD screen, an Intel 1.2GHz processor, 256M-bytes of RAM (upgradeable to 1G-bytes), a 20G-byte hard drive (upgradeable to 60G-bytes), integrated Ethernet port, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g wireless, and integrated fingerprint reader (for companies concerned about authentication issues, such as hospitals).
The unit doesn't convert into a notebook, so all input is pen-based on the device's touch screen. However, an optional base station can be purchased that has USB ports in which you can attach a keyboard if you want to use it as a regular notebook/desktop PC (once a doctor gets back from rounds, for example).
Walking around with the light weight tablet drew lots of oohs and aahs from staff members, at first they thought it was a giant PDA and then were thrilled to hear that it was a fully functional Windows machine.
