Is there a quick way to get started with Symantec's Ghost? We are stuck on how to create an image file for distribution.
Install the Ghost Server software on the machine you will use to distribute system images. You must use a second system to create the image.
Start the Ghost Console from the Programs menu on your Ghost server machine and choose Boot Wizard from the program's New menu. Follow the prompts to create boot disk(s) for your client system.
Then start a GhostCast Server session from the Ghost Console menu. Enter a session name, select Create Image, and choose whether to make an image of the model client's disk or a disk partition and click on Accept Clients.
Now boot the client machine with the Ghost boot disks you made. Choose Ghost Casting from the options presented at start-up and then choose Connect. Choose Unicast and enter the IP address of your Ghost Server and click Join Session. Select the disk or partition you want to make an image of, set the compression level, then click the button to start the imaging process.
To deploy the image later, start the GhostCast server, choose Restore Image, select the file and click Accept Clients. Then boot your clients, join them to the session and click Send on the GhostCast server.
