Microsoft employee Adrian has posted a response to the blogosphere's buzz about an apparent security hole in Vista's speech recognition feature. He says the reason why this is affecting Vista and not previous versions of Windows is because Vista was designed to be easier to operate. This goes back to the debate that got former Windows Development Chief Jim Allchin mulling over until his last days at Microsoft - how do you design something to be easy to use, yet secure? We guess the answer kept eluding him.
Simple to use, yet secure? Impossible.
