Google purchases historic landmark

Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have bought the Menlo Park, Calif., home where the Internet behemoth was first hatched. Or, technically, the garage where it all started.

When they were just starting out, the pair rented the garage for $1,700 a month from Susan Wojcicki, currently Google vice president of product management, formerly a friend of Brin's ex-girlfriend who needed help paying her mortgage.

$1,700 a month for the garage? Cripes, we're sitting on a gold mine that is our rumpus room. Time to head over to MIT and find some nerds who need space to roll up some characters and launch the Next Big Thing in El Internet.
