It sounds like I am drinking the MS cool aid huh? I just returned from the Microsoft MVP Summit in Seattle and had a spectacular time. There was approximately 1500 to 2000 MVPs from all over the world present at the summit. As a SQL Server MVP, I had the opportunity to network with my SQL colleagues and attend sessions on what's new for SQL Server 11, what's new for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. In addition, there was plenty of interactive sessions and round table discussions which allowed us to directly influence the feature sets of the new technologies. Read more

FYI…SQL Server 2005 SP3 has been available on the Microsoft Download Center Read more
since 12/15/2008. However, as of tomorrow SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 will be available via Microsoft Update. Therefore, watch for the download if you have configured automatic updates.
With the economy taking a dive many IT managers are concerned over spending and not too sure if they should upgrade their database applications to SQL Server 2008.
