Data center design innovations discussed at conference

Employees from Facebook, Dell, Intel and others gathered in Santa Clara, Calif. to attend Facebook's fourth Open Compute Summit. The meeting aims to figure out new innovations for data center design.

Facebook, for its part, proposed a new model for designing servers that it says will give businesses more choice in selecting components and a smarter way to upgrade systems (via "Facebook pushes a new model for buying servers")
