WWDC 2011 tickets go on sale and sell out in 10 hours. WWDC scheduled for June 6-10 in San Francisco

With no advance warning, Apple on Monday made tickets available to its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) set to take place June 6 through the 10th at San Francisco's Moscone West convention center.

With no advance warning, Apple on Monday made tickets available to its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) set to take place June 6 through the 10th at San Francisco's Moscone West convention center.

“At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” Phil Schiller said in the invite. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.”

Activities at WWDC include:

  • more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers on a wide range of technology-specific topics for developing, deploying and integrating the latest iOS and Mac OS technologies;
  • over 1,000 Apple engineers providing developers with code-level assistance, insight into optimal development techniques, and guidance on how they can make the most of iOS and Mac OS technologies in their apps;
  • the opportunity to connect with thousands of fellow iPad®, iPhone® and Mac developers from around the world; and
  • Apple Design Awards which recognize iPad, iPhone and Mac apps that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding design.

Tickets run at $1599 and if you're still planning on picking one up then you're already out of luck. Tickets to Apple's WWDC 2011 event sold out in approximately 10 hours, a new record. Last year tickets didn't sell out until 8 days after going on sale. The impressively quick sellout underscores just how popular Apple's development platforms are, especially iOS. And with OS X 10.7 Lion poised for a release later this Summer, this year's WWDC will undoubtedly be much more OS X heavy than last year's iOS-centric WWDC.

As you might expect, tickets to WWDC 2011 have already started creeping up on Craigslist though interested purchasers should be aware that they need to be registered Apple developers in order to attend.
