LinkedIn has added a new feature to all profiles that it calls “save----profile.” This allows you to add the profile to a list you have created or one that LinkedIn has created. You can also add some notes.
Below is a screen shot of what the new feature looks like. You can have it for 30 days free, but if you like it, you'll have to pay for the upgrade to continue to use it.
I have been traveling with my AT&T 3G card for a while now and it is always a horrible experience when I travel to LA, NY, Chicago and DC. It works fine when I am in my home city, connects every time and the speed is ok (but not close to 3G speed). But I was just in NY again and could not even get data when using it. Read more
Many emails have been sent to me about the lawsuit brought forward by ZL Technologies against Gar-ner. The San Jose-based ZL Technologies accuses Gar-ner of "defamation, trade libel, false advertising, unfair competition, and negligent interference with prospective economic advantage." (I won't use the company's full name in my blog anymore since the firm contacted me last summer.) Read more
Being asked why I would take Cisco over Blue Coat in a choice of vendors and products has led me to the following reasons. I would hope that the marketing teams of both companies who take so much time out of their days posting to other blogs would take the same amount of time to post to this blog. We invite them to reply to this blog and shine some light on their products. (Disclosure: Pluto Networks is a Cisco Reseller for VoIP, but not the WAAS)

Today Riverbed tried to take a huge leap over Cisco, Blue Coat and Juniper by releasing RIOS 6.0. This biggest part of this announcement is the optimization for Mac clients. This will provide a new market for the company of which they have not had for the last six years. Later this week we are doing a question and answer session with Bob Gilbert of Riverbed on this new release and what it really means to the company and the competition. This will be published in a new blog by Friday. (Disclosure notice: Larry Chaffin is a Riverbed reseller.) Read more
While I was on a 5am Telepresence call with EMEA, this was sent to me buy someone on the call, they said I hope thats not a Tandberg Telepresence Unit you are using Larry, lol.
A group of 24% of the Tandberg shareholders say no to Cisco and that the company would be better off no a Cisco company. This comes from Swedish brokerage SEB Enskilda, which represents the 21 shareholders in the Norwegian company. So what does this say to Cisco? Have these shareholders seen what Cisco does with its acquisitions and don't want to see Tandberg go down the drain as another Cisco Company? Read more
Vidyo the up and comer in the Telepresence segment have come out with its own SMB version of their product. The new VidyoOne Package is aimed at small business so they can also have Personal Telepresence at the desktop. It has been a month since I posted the blog called "When censorship goes too far, we cannot say Gar-ner anymore". Since then I have received many email about Gar-ner and how really no one likes them for what they do. I am still waiting on a reply from Gar-ner about the email they sent to me, I have responded back to the email four times but never get a reply. I have sent an email to some C-Level Executives but it seems they never read the email. Read more

I was sent this on Guru.com, seems like someone cannot do their own work and now is trying to get someone else to write it. Whatever happened to writing your own articles or books and taking pleasure in it? Now we have too many people doing this and taking credit as an expert in a book or web site. This just is not right. Next it will be certifications and people finding a way around it.
Makes you wonder if you can ever trust people or what they write now.

I was on a flight recently and that airline had in flight WI-FI, so while I was sitting in first class I decided to give it a try since I had lots of room to work. At first I was all happy of the idea, that I could get all of my news, email and do some searches while on a 6 hour flight. But then you figured out everyone else is doing the same thing. The service got really slow, really fast to the point I was about to turn it off when I tried my vpn. My first trying did not work, but then I tried my backup vpn on a different port and it worked. I have received a few emails asking my opinion on the CCIE Storage Certification, so I here is my opinion. Until Cisco brings all testing for the written in house then nothing matters. I wish that all of the written test moved to a oral in front of a Cisco employee, that would fix some issues with people cheating. Read more
I received a really nice email (if you want to call it that) from Gar-ner on Friday. If you are asking who is Gar-ner, well it’s this company that put companies in a square divided into four sections. I received an email asking me to take down my blogs that contained this companies name by them telling the following: Read more
I was given a tip about the problem of recruiters posting fake jobs; this was just to get a 1000 or more resumes to sell. I guess I did not know this but there is a nice business going on now in this area. So to see what would happen we made up three resumes of fake people. The first was a CIO with 20 years of experience in big companies and a whole list of published articles. The next was a three time CCIE who has been doing networking for 15 years and had project management experience. The last was our entry level with a few certifications and administrations jobs. Starwood’s Hotels did a good thing by lowering prices at some 600 of 1000 properties by 50%. But be sure if you are reading everything before you book. Every low price I did see of which I checked the Weston Hotels was pre-pay only with no refund. This is not good for business as we all know that plans change every other day. Hotels should always have a 24 to 48 hour cancelation policy to help business out even on thesegodo deals.
If Starwood’s would think about the customer and not just the pre-bookings they would get more business. I know they are trying but it could be better. Read more
