Many networks came to a crawl today, all thanks to MJ. That's right people were online watching the final good bye to MJ. Below was the link that caused the most harm in networks:

I was sent this very good story of Cisco having issues at Cisco Live with the Chambers demonstrations. But the story was more of Chambers being heckled by people from the Union Local 1877, that's right these are the janitors that Chambers fired. I wonder if the buy American Group will be the next to come heckle Chambers? Could the media be next to heckle Chambers for the miss-understanding that kept the media out of Cisco Live?
Someone sent me an email saying the protectors were selling t-shirt outside the Moscone Convention Center in protest of Cisco and John Chambers. Read more
Talking with a director for a small marketing company on Sunday he mentioned that they are hiring again. When I asked him why he said it is due to Google Voice. The application that allows the customers to have voicemail changed to text and then displayed on the web or phone, it has telemarketers people all happy. They had many people blocking or turning off texting to stop marketing from companies for a while, now they can get back to phone calls.
I was sent this link below from a CIO, he uses the Cisco WAAS. He asked me if it is true because he could not find any information on the Cisco web site for an Internal Pilot. I told him I was not sure but have heard rumors about it, if it is true that Cisco does not use the WAAS product in their network it would be a bombshell. Think about it for a minute, Cisco and the great marketing machine pulling the wool over everyone's eyes while selling the WAAS to customers. Read more
I received a very nice email from Jayshree V Ullal President & CEO, Arista Networks. I was invited to a Cloud Computing Seminar in San Francisco hosted by Arista Networks and Citrix. Before you ask, yes it is going on at the same time as "other conference" in town. This would be the "other conference" that did not invite media. Below is the information for the Cloud Computing seminar, if you have time and you are not going to the "other conference" (like most media) you might want to try and attend. Read more

CRN release the information below showing that Compellent topped the listof companies with the biggest increase in sales for Q1 from 2008 to 2009.I think this really proves to the CIO's around the country that they need to look at Compellent over EMC, HP, IBM and others.
Just buying the same old solution does not cut it anymore when you need to save money. Pluto Networks has uploaded a few Compellent Videos to our YouTube web site. Feel free to take a look at the Compellent Solution, if you have any questions feel free to post a note below.

I decided to have a little fun and send some emails to friends who attended Interop to get their opinions on who had the best presentations from any technology. The name of the awards came from a few people who thought my name should be the award (sounds good to me). The votes were very different from what I thought and we had many discussions, but we do have our winner for this year listed below. Also I have added some comments that came back about what they did not like. Maybe this will help vendors do better next year.
I had the chance to sit down with President and Co-Founder of Aspera Michelle Munson at Interop to learn why her company was different from other WAN Acceleration Companies. The first thing you should know is Aspera is a software company, this is unlike Cisco, Riverbed, Juniper, Expand, Blue Coat and Fastsoft who all offer appliance based solutions. The call the solution fasp, this is a ground up built solution to fill the pipe of your WAN links in the network.
The Aspera fasp solution compares to accelerated TCP like this:

Do we all remember this blog from Cisco?
http://blogs.cisco.com/datacenter/comments/longer_sales_cycles_in_wan_optimization/
Let's take a look at the stock price now that has been posted below as of today, guess they are not a niche or has been player anymore Cisco.
Riverbed Executives and Customers Drive Industry Discussions on IT Infrastructure Performance; Riverbed Cascade Exclusive Performance Monitoring Tool for the Conference -- Live in the Interop NOC
The E Series EX accelerates TCP traffic 2 to 5 times without requiring software or hardware at the receiving end. It is a transparent solution, requiring no tweaking of servers or rewriting of applications at the server or client sides. TCP traffic – web applications and data transfers – travels faster globally without requiring regional datacenters.

The Best of Interop Awards are going well this year, this being my first appearance as a judge. I have had a few people ask me if I was going to judge this year, so I decided it was time to let everyone know. The process is going well; I cannot give out to many details as to what I am judging or who the entries are since that's not fair. But the people who I am working with on the awards are very well knowledgeable and great to work with.

I had the chance not too long ago to chat with the GM of Interop on a conference call; he told me that he was really not seeing a drop in attendance. I am not sure about that until I get there but the vendors are sure coming out for the event. I have had over 40 vendors contact me for meeting and briefings while at Interop. Before you ask me, Cisco has not contacted me at all.

Still waiting on Cisco Live Media Request, you know it is Invitation Only.
Like many other I sent an email to Cisco to request a Media badge for Cisco Live this year. The web site said it is invitation only, which means if you don't write what we like you are not coming (jk). After I did not hear anything for months I sent an email to 40 of my media pals and none of them have even received an email, so I guess I was lucky they replied to me after months. It could have been because I sent my email four times asking are you going to reply.

This is a follow up to a blog I wrote some time ago about the Cisco SPA525G IP Phone. Just like everyone I ordered the phone as soon as I had a skew for it from Cisco, then waited three months while it was on back order from day one. Now I will say that if you are going to put out a new product you should have enough in stock to get it to people. Cisco did not win any points from me on the delivery of my phone. Read more
