It will be interesting to see if Vertica offers support libraries for interpreted langauges such as PHP. If so, I think Vertica will be the next big thing that will give MySQL a serious run for it's money.
However, we'll have to see if it can stand the test of time against millions of requests and also if it can be setup as a ring as is availabe in MySQL and SQL.
