Bell Canada onboard with Nortel PBT
Jim and others might want to have a chat with some of Bell Canada's (largest telco in Canada) senior architects. About 8 months ago they approached me with a multi-dozen building WAN network that was going to be based on Nortel's Q-in-Q non-MPLS backbone which they are implementing due to their discoverings that MPLS networks are far more expensive to purchase & manage.
Telus (the second largest Telco in Canada) has no such plans that I've heard about. They are still touting their "IP Networks" which is based on MPLS Layer 3 VPN services... that said, they have no roadmap for VPLS which is making network engineers at some companies look for alternative bridging services.
