New LapTop with Vista - OEM tells me my license allows downgrade to XP - they just don't tell me how - call MS, I guess.
Re: More users headed to Vista, but some concerns increasing, survey shows.
Vista Home Basic - How do you figure out all these different versions available? Thankfully a desktop shortcut to download an upgrade - the upgrade treadmill head start program?
Windows defender, Vista Firewall, OEM laptop firewall, 3rd party Firewall, Parental Controls...Can I figure this out before malware finds me?
Added openSUSE - dual boot, so I can use both. SUSE faster, but then I haven't figured out my Vista base number and how to optomize yet.
You got choices - learn Linux, Mac or Vista. Not sure there is much difference in the learning curves - I suspect Mac and Linux will change less over time, from the end user perspective - Windows always seems to change names, move functions, re-arrange menus, etc. I guess I'm getting old, I'm really tired of re-learning windows.
Open source and Linux looking better every day.
