Free video converters?

I've been searching the internet for days trying to find a free video converter. The ones that I did find were extremely low quality. They'd convert picture-clear, superb-audio videos into crappy blocky things that just, frankly, suck.

Re: Free video conversion on Windows and OS X.

The main problem I had was converting my HDD Camcorder video file (.mpg format that does not open in iMovie, nor Quicktime - unless you want to shell out $20 for the Quicktime MPEG2 package). Even then, the audio would not play in iMovie.

But unlike all of those programs, Squared 5 worked wonderously. I found myself saying: "This is too good to be true." You even have the option of Demux the audio (which was what I was looking for). This program does not dim-down the original video. It's a miracle it's oh-so free.

I'd definitely give this program a 10/10 for good quality and pretty fast converting speed. What more could you want?
