Time to penalize companies that lose private data

There are so many available and cheap encryption solutions to this problem that companies should be severely penalized when they compromise on privacy.

Re: Alcatel-Lucent reports employee data lost or stolen.

For example, you can have a hardware encrypted hard drive for around $350 Canadian installed in your laptop and all dat on the drive is encrypted with no performance impact.
