A New Trial at the Very Least
As there are no true "We have a match!" moments in real investigations of forensic evidence like hair and cloth samples, it isn't at all surprising that the forensics involved in this case were, at best, muddled. The reactionary activity of both law enforcement and the school administration stamped big, clumsy, muddy feet all other this one. We'd like to think our authorities are above being seized by reflexive "sentence first, investigation later (if ever)" responses in cases involving the proximity of porn and children—where clear thinking is of particular importance—but that so often isn't the case, so we will continue to see messes like this happen.
