Heavy fragmentation and storage optimization

Interesting article. Just a quick comment: when it comes to optimized operation of the storage subsystems, an often overlooked aspect is heavy file fragmentation resulting in reduced ability of the host system to optimally access and disseminate data to clients.

Re: How to save millions through storage optimization.

Heavy fragmentation can often be a limiting factor in overall system performance, and result in a cascading effect with the end result being unnecessary wastage of time and lower productivity.

We noticed this problem in some of our larger clients' systems, who kept complaining about performance. So after looking into this issue, we concluded that having an enterprise level defragmentation solution is pretty much necessary. As a result, we now recommend Diskeeper Enterprise Server to our clients, and feedback on its performance has been excellent so far.
