The same was said about Tippingpoint. There is always a new way to do things. It just needs to be found. Most of these vendors are support IPv6 in FW and do or will support it in IPS very soon.
The article says that they proxy SSL connections and doesn't really mention outbound (from client ssl). I agree that would be near impossible.
