Open Source Early Adopters and Next Phase
This is another real world example of the viability of Open Source Telephony for practical application. I think what worked out so well here was the bench depth of IP networking expertise. Which is critical. More so than Telecom expertise. Although both skill sets are mandotory for a successful implementation. we have overseen the implementation of over 30 Open Source Telephony environments of 20 to 400 extensions. Having been involved in Cisco's IP Tel program for many years was helpful for understanding what is possible with Open Source Tel. It's here to stay. Digium has taken in capital from some very interesting folks. Adtran owns part of Digium. It's going to be very interesting for the next couple years.
