Perhaps you should read the first ten lines of the RFC.

It is something Apple invented, they wrote the RFC with Microsoft and Sun. Three client software companies writing network protocols. Since when has any of those three companies been known to write stellar network protocols?

It was written just over a year ago, never implemented anywhere before. There are a lot of RFCs out there, and I would hardly call every RFC a "standard". Is RFC4777 a "Standard"? It's an open letter.
