Good bye Network General
Network General is no longer what it used to be... 7+ years ago. There's barely been any inovation in their product line. This was due in part to its previous acquisitions that slashed R&D dollars and just tried to sell the same ol' product to its existing (large) user base.
Let's face it, it was the king, or in fact, the General of packet sniffers, but as the previous commentator mentioned, Open Source solutions now offer the core feature set or mroe for free! So why pay over-inflated prices?
If you want a real Enterprise level protocol analyzer, consider test driving Network Instruments "Observer Expert". I don't work for the company but am a recent convert.
Cheers,
Anon
