"Because Apple wants these companies to have incentives to continue developing exclusive applications for the iPhone," Explain why Apple charges for ringtones then. My iPhone is my first experience with Apple products. I've never seen a company more controlling of its product and willing to screw over its customer base for a dollar. Wouldn't your product be more attractive to people if you allowed it to be manipulated and expanded by a seemingly loyal fan base?
Steve Jobs business model of "charge the customers for every little thing" is a big put off. I'm not buying another Apple product until they become more customer friendly.
