Consider Something
In the MS Windows Mobile world, there are entire communities working on modified ROMs to fit various personalities and tastes. And while these ROMs may void warranties with the phone company much of the population could care less. There is no prosecution, just voiding the warranty..and for a $500 phone, many could care less.
Could it be that the iPhone is an inferior product? That the only way it can be solid and secure is that it is ONLY controlled by Apple? Why is it that Apple customers are so willing to circular pegs stuffed into square holes? Apple is basically saying that they have a product that can only be used the way they want it to be used. If you do anything to the device that we do not approve of, we will sue you.
Let's apply that business model to a car - whoa, no after-market parts on your sports car. Want your own stereo? If you put your own stereo in, we will sue. If you put any tires on it other than the ones we provide, we will sue. Oh, and you need gas? You can only buy gas from our approved gas stations and can only be pumped by authorized gas pump operators.
So...owners of the iPhone...you spent several hundred dollars on a phone with box you must curl up, lie in, and be happy about it. I think the iPhone just lost its cool factor.
