Office 2008 for Mac to launch Jan. 15 and cost $400

Microsoft will release three versions of Office 2008 for Mac at the Macworld Expo event in San Francisco on January 15.
The basic edition will cost $400, the home/student edition will cost $150, a special media edition will cost $500. Upgrade packages for those using Office 2004 (to the basic edition) will cost $240 and $300 to the fancy media edition.

Mac users might still note with a sour puss that Microsoft is launching its latest Mac Office edition a year after the PC Office edition. Some bloggers have claimed that Microsoft still treats Macs like second class citizens, creating a love/hate relationship.
