Jim, you've just articulated the Nevis Networks value prop very well. We provide both secure switch and LAN Security appliance form factors exactly to give customers the option to choose the best approach now, and to protect and expand that investment in the future. One thing that still needs some debate is the level of security functionality and the architecture used in those offerings. If you need a secure switch, make sure it's secure and doesn't degrade switching performance in the face of attacks, and also make sure it can defend you against a wide range of attacks both known and zero-day. The devil is in the details as usual. I have some thoughts on this exact subject over at my blog www.nevis-blog.com
