I think positioning these types of WAN optimization solutions as a service is a great idea but it scares me when carriers try to go beyond their core business of deploying and maintaining circuits. They rarely do a good job at that so what makes them able to now deploy, maintain and support Juniper devices? Maybe it will work for very large enterprises but probably will be a nightmare for anyone outside the fortune 1000. We offer a WAN Acceleration Service (SaaS) using Riverbed Steelhead appliances and mobile controllers. This is allowing a lot of customers that would not have previously considered a WAN optimization solution as they can now take advantage of the technology without the big front end cost.
