Network Physics has been lurching around nearly since it was founded. Their product was pretty good and a clever application of technology but they couldn't gain traction or get attention in the market because they focused on their technical cleverness and not on the value to the customer.
It's too bad - this was definitely a cheap acquisition of technology - it's the NP employees who lose the most.
