How big a deal is this delay? Well, NAV is being pushed fairly hard by Microsoft partners. One of them, Plataan's Kennis says in his blog:
Here are some simple facts and figures fresh from the general Dynamics NAV session on Convergence 2007 in Copenhagen:
- There are more than 3.000 Dynamics NAV partners worldwide
- There are more than 1.800 Channel Builder Solutions
-There are more than 60.000 customers worldwide using Dynamics NAV
- There are more than 1,000,000 users worldwide
- Dynamics NAV has something more than 40 localized versions
- Dynamics NAV is implemented in more than 150 countries
This refers to the article that reports that Microsoft has delayed the release of the next version of Dynamics NAV, one of its ERP applications for mid-size companies, company executives said Tuesday. It's the second delay this year for the ERP (enterprise resource planning) software, which Microsoft acquired after buying Danish application developer Navision A/S in 2002. A 5.1 released was planned for the end of this year, but Microsoft has instead opted to release a version 6.0 mid-year next year.
